HPC-D chairman H Z Sangbera was arrested on Tuesday at the Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi and brought to Aizawl yesterday, they said.

Sangbera was arrested after he landed in the airport from Imphal in a Kingfisher flight.

The insurgent group was planning to blast the lone railroad linking Mizoram at Bairabi town from Assam, National Highway No 54 - the lifeline of the state between Bagha in Assam's Cachar district and Mizoram's Vairengte, and some other vital installations in Aizawl, an official statement quoting state Home Minister R Lalzirliana said.

On June 10, HPC-D 'Army Chief' Lalropuia and 'Deputy Army Chief' Biaknunga were arrested from Silchar Airport in Assam's Cachar district.
