Manjilas to set up food park in Thrissur

Thrissur-based Manjilas Group, which markets Double Horse brand food products, will set up a food park in Thrissur district.
Ranji John, chairman and managing director of the group, said they would soon acquire land for the park and commence operations in 9-10 months.
The group will invest Rs 6 crore for the first phase of the venture that connects the 13 processing factories in and outside Kerala.
Addressing a press conference here today he said that Manjilas would open production units in Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu apart from its units in Kerala, Karnataka and Pondicherry. It has already tied up with Big Bazaar for distributing various products and is in talks with Reliance Retail.
He also said that more products like nutritious food products, curry mixes, processed dishes, jams, banana powder and spice masalas would be added to the product portfolio making the number above 100 during the current financial year.
The company has launched a nutritious rice powder ideal for Puttu, Kerala's famous breakfast item, at a price tag of Rs 48 per kg.
The group earned a turnover of Rs 65 crore in 2006-07 and has set a target of Rs 121 crore for the current fiscal.
