BS Reporter Chennai
Sands Utility Services Pvt Ltd, engaged in energy-related products and electrical distribution-related services, has announced that it has bagged a Rs 1.2-crore order from Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd in Pune zone for downloading, analysing and submitting reports of high tension (HT) consumers.

The company also set up a new data centre recently for the analysis and preparation of reports at Guindy Industrial Estate, Chennai, according to a company statement.

The company has hired 20 electrical engineers for the project, who will supervise the downloading of reports in Pune and execute the analysis and submission of reports in Chennai.

L R Rajagopal, chief executive officer of the company, said HT consumer meter analysis was similar to ECG analysis of a human being as it contained a lot of data which could be interpreted by the electricity boards for revenue improvement.

"We help the electricity boards identify the irregularities in consumption patterns and alert the officials," he added.

He also said that most of the state electricity boards had started focusing on analysing consumption patterns as it would help enhance the revenue, especially in the high paying consumer category.

The 10-year-old company has been engaged in spot billing in Gujarat and has helped the Gujarat State Electricity Board in increasing its revenue from about Rs 650 crore to Rs 850 crore in a period of 18 months, according to V Kesavamurthi, director, Sands Utility.
