Via to takeover Jalandhar-based firm

Bangalore-based Via, one of the largest players in the domestic travel market in India having presence in 2,400 cities and a network of close to 20,000 travel agents, has acquired Jalandhar-based travel company travel Services (Pvt) Ltd. The acquisition will help Via, to further strengthen its position in North India and is likely to play a key role in increasing overall international ticketing business.

It is worth mentioning that TSC, one of the largest travel consolidators in North India comprising Punjab. Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Rajasthan, is one of the top sellers of major International Airlines tickets flying in and out of New Delhi. Annually, it earns about Rs 150 crore. Till date, it has also serviced more than 3.5 lakh customers through its base of 500 agent partners. The company deals with all the main international airlines flying to and from India.

Commenting on the acquisition while speaking to Business Standard, Vinay Gupta, CEO & Founder of said “We have always been looking out for growth opportunities: both organic and inorganic. provides us a perfect platform to further strengthen our position in North India and boost our operations here. will also play a key role in increasing our overall International travel business”. However, he did not disclose the acquisition cost. He further added, “We are further looking for inorganic growth and eyeing a company which has established as a centre of excellence in a travel sector.”

The acquisition will give the company a strategic advantage to consolidate its position as a market leader in the travel network in India.

It is worth mentioning that Via was founded by and Amit Aggarwal in July 28th, 2006 and was incorporated in May 2007. The company's travel network is spread across 2400 towns and cities with over 20,000 travel partners’ stores.
