Mahatma Gandhi emphasised on the use of Khadi and later Khadi Village industry was started on his name. However, gradually people started loosing interest in Khadi but in the last few years people have started showing interest in Khadi products again. OBC reservation to be introduced in Sainik schools from 2021-22: Defence Secretary
Defence Secretary Ajay Kumar on Friday said 27 per cent seats in Sainik schools will be reserved for other backward classes (OBCs) from the academic session of 2021-22. The Sainik Schools Society, which works under the Ministry of Defence, manages 33 such residential schools in the country, according to a PTI report.
"OBC reservation to be introduced in Sainik Schools from the year 2021-22," Kumar said on Twitter and posted images of an October 13 circular that was sent to principals of all Sainik schools across the country.
The circular said 67 per cent of the seats in a Sainik school are reserved for candidates from the state or the Union Territory in which the school is located and the remaining 33 per cent is reserved for those who come from outside that state or UT. These two lists will be termed List A and List B.
The circular said within each list, 15 per cent seats are reserved for Scheduled Castes, 7.5 per cent seats are for Scheduled Tribes and 27 per cent seats are for non-creamy layer OBCs. It stated this reservation policy will come into effect from the academic session of 2021-22.

Need to strengthen synergy among law enforcement agencies in India: CBI Chief
Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Director Rishi Kumar Shukla has stressed on the need to strengthen the synergy between law enforcement agencies within India and for continuous capacity building through training. Shukla made the remarks during the culmination of a three-day virtual national conference on vigilance and anti-corruption on Thursday.
According to a CBI statement, Shukla spoke about strengthening synergy among law enforcement agencies and for continuous capacity building through training.
The CBI Director also stressed on sustained deterring action against corruption through speedy investigation and expeditious prosecution of cases. He appreciated the overwhelming response from States/UTs/Central Agencies and their contributions to the deliberations and thanked them for their whole-hearted participation.

MP assembly bypolls: EC revokes star campaigner status of Kamal Nath
The Election Commission on Friday revoked the "star campaigner" status of Congress leader and former Madhya Pradesh chief minister Kamal Nath for repeated violations of the model code while campaigning for the bypolls in 28 assembly constituencies in the state.
In an order issued on Friday, the Commission said, "...for repeated violation of Model Code of Conduct and for completely disregarding the advisory issued to him, the Commission hereby revokes the status of leader of political party (Star Campaigner) of Kamal Nath, Ex-Chief Minister, Madhya Pradesh, with immediate effect for the current Bye-elections of Legislative Assembly of Madhya Pradesh."
It said no permission will be granted by authorities to Kamal Nath as a star campaigner.
"However, if any campaign is done by Kamal Nath from now onwards, the entire expenditure related to travel, stay and visit will be completely borne by the candidate in whose constituency he carries out campaigning," he said.

15th Finance Commission finalises report, to submit it to president on Nov 9
The 15th Finance Commission will submit its report for fiscal years 2021-22 to 2025-26 to President Ram Nath Kovind on November 9, an official statement said on Friday. The commission under Chairman N K Singh on Friday concluded its deliberations on the report.
The report was signed by Singh and members of the commission -- Ajay Narayan Jha, Anoop Singh, Ashok Lahiri and Ramesh Chand.
"The commission had sought time to present its report to the Honourable President of India. It has now been communicated by the office of the president that the report submission will be on November 9, 2020," the statement said. The commission will also present a copy of the report to Prime Minister Narendra Modi later next month.

Second round of coal mine auctioning starts Nov 2, 19 blocks on offer
The auctioning of coal mines for commercial mining and sale of coal will commence on November 2, with 19 coal blocks going under the hammer. This will be the second and final round of the auction process wherein interested bidders will submit their financial bids in real-time on an online platform. This is the first time India is offering coal mines to private companies for commercial sale.
Adani Enterprises (AEL) through its various companies, Hindalco, Jindal Power, JSW Steel, Vedanta, and Welspun Steel, are in the fray for these mines. There are various non-coal companies, medium-sized enterprises, and state government mining companies participating in the auction.
Senior officials said the technically qualified bidders will be announced two hours prior to the bidding on Monday. The e-auction is being conducted on the e-commerce portal of state-owned MSTC. READ ON...
