US markets end +ve; Sterlite zooms 8%

US stocks advanced on Tuesday on an uptick in corporate deal activity while the weak dollar led to gains in commodities, lifting shares of oil and mining companies.
The Dow Jones industrial average closed up 56 points at 9,497.34. The Nasdaq Composite Index gained 19 points at 2,037.77.
The Indian ADRs ended on a positive note. Patni Computers plunged 5% to $17.6. Tata Communications slipped 1% to $20.03.
Sterlite zoomed 8% to $15.06 and Tata Motors soared 4.5% to $12.78.
ICICI Bank advanced 6.5% to $32.76 and Wipro added 3% to $16.2.
Infosys, Dr Reddy's and Satyam were up above 2% each.
