The International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS) announced April 18 as World Heritage Day in 1982, or The International Day for Monument and Sites. 

In India some of the top trending monuments include Agra’s Taj Mahal, Agra Fort, Gujarat’s Somnath Temple; Jaipur’s Amer Fort, Jaigarh Fort, Jantar Mantar, Jal Mahal; Orissa’s Konark temple, and Jodhpur’s Umaid Bhawan Palace and Mehrangarh Fort. Down south one cannot miss the Mysore Palace, Tamil Nadu’s - Mahabalipuram and Hampi’s Virupaksha temple.

What is interesting is that each and every monument has its history and story, commemorating a person or an event that has
