Food safety regulator must follow global practices

Adventurism by the regulator is in the interest of neither the industry nor consumers

The indication by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) that it would reintroduce the system of pre-launch product approvals by issuing new regulations has dealt a blow to the food processing sector.
