No basis for CM to launch 'Vikas Yatra': Tiwari

Former BJP leader Ghanshyam Tiwari today said that Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje has no basis to launch 'Vikas Yatra' in Rajasthan which has been "lagging behind other states in social and economic development."

Rajasthan has slipped to the 11th rank compared to the 7th last year in the Public Affairs Index 2018 report of the former ISRO chief Krishnaswamy Kasturirangan, he said, adding it deprives Raje of her raison d'tre to undertake the Vikas Yatra.

Alleging that Rajasthan has been lagging on key parameters of the governance, Tiwari said even the new state Telangana, which stood 13th last year, now ranks third.

The PAI ranking is given on the basis of administration by the of governments, said Tiwari, who is now the state president of newly-founded Bharat Vahini Party.

The report considers various parameters, including infrastructure, human development, social security, law and order situation and situation of women and children, he said.

Tiwari said that the government has failed in delivering on all fronts, whereas other states have been making significant progress.

The BJP government was voted to power in Rajasthan in the last assembly election on a promise of providing good governance, but it has failed on all fronts, he added.
