Amazon, Flipkart in talks with Indian retail brands for strategic stakes

E-commerce firms Amazon and Walmart-owned Flipkart are in talks with multiple small, regional as well large retailers including Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail Ltd (ABFRL) and Landmark Group, to acquire strategic minority stakes, according to sources. People in the know said that these investments are part of the strategy for e-commerce companies to tap the offline retail opportunity in the country. “These are relationship stakes of around 9-10 per cent for Amazon and Flipkart.
