BJP sends invitation to 340 leaders for executive meet

Press Trust of India Mumbai

"340 leaders from the party have been sent invitation. All the leaders from BJP will be present at the meeting. We will not give any opportunity to our opponents to speak on it," BJP's national spokesperson Shahnawaz Hussain said at a press conference here today.

Meanwhile, miffed over the party's top brass sidelining him, former Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa has said that he would not participate in the national executive meet.

There are also doubts whether Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi would attend the meet. When asked about it, Hussain maintained that all BJP leaders would participate in the meet.

Downplaying the political crisis in Karnataka, he said, "Our government is functioning in Karnataka. It will keep functioning there."

Asked whether BJP would support P A Sangma as the presidential candidate, he said that NDA leaders would meet and take a decision after the national executive meeting ends.
