IIM Rohtak to organise marathon to campaign for girl child

Press Trust of India  |  Rohtak (Har)

The marathon symbolises the long and often arduous journey that a girl child had to undertake in her life and is an initiative of IIM Rohtak Social Development Projects Cell, a spokesman of the institute said.

The marathon 2011, which was sponsored by various corporate and NGOs such as Apollo, Sun foundation, Rotary Club, LPS Bossard etc., witnessed a participation of more than 2,000 students and residents of Rohtak and adjoining areas.

Rohtak is also the home town of Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda.

"The second marathon will also include a one-km run for schoolchildren, apart from the traditional 5-km and 10-km races," he said.

The 5 and 10 km race will start from MD University's Tagore Auditorium, he said.

"The event is expected to draw huge crowd, including participation from the student community, in and around Rohtak," he said.
