Meghalaya asked to submit proposal for police modernisation

Meghalaya had sought Rs 442 crore from the Centre to create another 18 new additional police stations in the state, he said.

The chief minister said police stations would be categorised into 'A' with 80 constables, 9 head constables, 7 sub-inspectors and the officer-in-charge and 'B' with 40 constables, 8 head constables, 6 SIs and the officer in charge.

The state has 42 police stations 10 beat houses and two police outposts besides six reserve battalions of forces with a manpower of over 5,500.
