Three policemen injured in brick-batting

"A large number of local residents including women attacked a team of policemen last night when it went to arrest a person accused of criminal offence," Officer-in-charge of Adityapur police station K N Mishra said.

As the policemen were about to leave the area with the arrested person, Bhoklu Lohar, the residents protested and threw bricks at the policemen, he said.

Several policemen suffered injuries in the incident but three of them were referred to a nearby hospital.

Mishra said action would be taken against the local residents involved in throwing bricks to the police.
