Two Maoist cadres surrender in WB

The husband-wife duo - Bijoy Singh Sardar and Moumita Singh Sardar - surrendered before the SP P Sudhakar last night, they said.

They contacted the superintendent of police and expressed their desire to surrender after being assured the package of rehabilitation, safety and security announced by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

Residents of Palagarh and Nimdih villages in Balarampur block of Purulia district, Bijoy and Moumita joined the Ayodhya Squad of CPI (Maoist) after being attracted by their ideology.

Later, they decided to surrender when the fellow Maoist cadres does the same after the chief minister declared the package.

They will now be lodged in Purulia town for their safety and security, police added.
