Five-Year Paper In The Limelight

Activity in the recently issued 5-year paper was high in the otherwise dull market and the activity was skewed in the mid and short term maturity section. The turnover in the debt segment was Rs 259,92 crore.

The call money rates were steady and moved in a small range.

Overnight money was quoted at nine per cent at the start of the day and most deals were done at these levels. Call money rates later closed at around 7.5 per cent to eight

per cent.

The prices of all securities inched up by 15-20 paise and corresponding yields dropped.
