Silicon Graphics In Strategic Deal With Intel

Silicon Graphics Inc (SGI), the $3.7 billion 'visual computing' major, has announced a strategic partnership with leading chipmaker Intel Corporation to increase penetration of SGI's product range.
Outlining his "growth with profitability" strategy at a press conference on Tuesday, the new chairman and chief executive of SGI, Rick Belluzo, said the Intel partnership would "drive growth across the entire Silicon Graphics product line."
SGI's alliance with Wintel (Windows NT plus Intel) will increase penetration in current core markets and will also provide access to visual professionals in the PC market, he said.
