Formed in 1975 by merging four construction firms, Bhageeratha Engineering (BEL) came out with its first public issue in Oct.'92. Engaged in specialised constructions, the company has executed many projects in different fields, like construction of dams and bridges, irrigation projects, railway lines, etc. Besides India, its area of operations extends to Iraq, Abu Dhabi, Yemen, Kuwait, etc. In 1996, the company has been awarded three prestigious projects. The Varapuzha Bridge in Kerala at a contract value of Rs 300 mln, the Rock Fill Dam in Doyang, Nagaland at cost of Rs 1469 mln and site levelling work at Mangalore, Karnataka awarded by Kudremukh Iron and Steel Company at a cost of Rs.120 million. These projects were completed as per the scheduled time. Bhagheeratha Electricals and Structurals and Bhageeratha Energy Controls are the subsidiaries of the company. In 1998-99 it bagged the projects like site grading and roads (phase 1) for smelter expansion project part -NALCO, Angul in Orissa, formation of head works, earth dam, uncontrolled weir, surplus course and canal sluice for Vadakku Pachayar Reservoir Project in Tamilnadu and second lane for Feroke Bridge No. 943 in Kerala.The company was awarded ISO 9002 certification in 2000. A new project was awarded for laning between Bangalore-Salem-Madurai section at a cost of Rs.707.10 Million.
