Computerskill Ltd. (COMPUTERSKILL) - Company History

Computerskill was promoted as a partnership firm by the promoter and in 1987 and a private company was incorporated in July 1987 by the same promoter to takeover the running business of the partnership firm. Later this private company was converted into a public limited company in Feb 1995. The computer stationery product manufactured by the company includes standard EZ read forms as well as a variety of pre-printed forms at Nandoli (Mehsana district), Gujarat, with an installed capacity of 1800 lac forms pa. It also markets certain other computer related items like computer ribbons, floppy drive diskettes and other accessories used in EDP installations. In 1995-96, the company undertook an expansion-cum-modernisation programme which involved diversification into packaging sector by creating facilities for producing duplex printed cartons and also expansion of the installed capacity of printing computer stationery. It came out with a public issue in Dec.'95 to part-finance the project. The company's client list includes Hongkong Bank, Citibank, State Bank of India, Union Bank of India, Bank of Tokyo, Bank of Baroda, etc, and other clients like HDFC, Hindustan Lever, Asian Paints, ICICI, Sandoz, Rallis India, etc, and other corporate as well as non-corporate bodies. During 1997-98, the company increased the installed capacity of computer continuous stationery to 45,75,00,000 forms. In 1998-99, the Company diversified into manufacturing of CD-Rs by implementing a 100% EOU facility to produce 12 Million CD-Rs per annum at a capital cost of Rs.32 crores. The project was completed and the commercial production was commenced on September 2001. It is also planning to go in for phase wise expansion by 15 lines by the end of fiscal year 2004-05. As a immediate effect it has gone for 3 lines,out of which 2 line will be for CD-R and one line will be for DVD-R production. The total outlay for the project is around Rs.28 crores and production is expected to commenced by January,2004.
