Initially promoted as a partnership firm by V S Dewan and J C Dewan in Dec.'72, Dewan Rubber Industries (DRIL) went public in 1986. It produces cycle and rickshaw tyres and tubes, calcium carbonate (inst. cap. : 3600 tpa) and also reclaims rubber. It has a 100% EOU for cotton yarn (inst. cap. : 25,000 spindles) and a tyre and tube plant. The company's products are used within the country and partly exported to Africa, Afghanistan, Syria and Latin America. It has entered into an MoU with PMG Corporation, Taiwan, a leading yarn / garments dealer, to lift the entire production of DRIL's spinning unit. Since the accumulated losses of the company during the year 1999-2000, have erored more than 50% of its peak networth of the company immediately preceding four financial years, the company has reported to the BIFR pursuant to SICA, 1985.
