The company came out with a public issue in Sep.'94 to expand its cable capacity, add balancing equipment and to meet working capital requirements. Owing to its quality control, continuous R&D efforts and professionalism Gem Cables has an impressive client list that includes the state electricity boards of Andhra, Karnataka, Gujarat and Maharashtra and the naval institutions in Tamilnadu and Karnataka. It was awarded the biggest order ever to any company by the Vijayawada Thermal Station. It has also bagged orders for the entire electrification of Madras. On the export front, Gem Cables and Conductors is the first Indian company to export 1.1-KV XLPE cables to the UAE. Another major achievement of the company was the successful penetration of the highly competitive Gulf market. It's turnover has grown to Rs 20 cr in just ten years. The company, in order to further strengthen its presence, has set up a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility to produce medium- and high-voltage cables; production commenced in Mar.'95. The company was awarded the coveted ISO 9002 certification for its products by M/s Bureau Veritas Quality International. The company was also awarded for the best new product and for the best performance from M/s Federation of Andhra Pradesh Chambers of Commerce and Industries (FAAPCII) and M/s All India Manufacturers Organisation (AIMO) respectively.
