The company now plans to enter into a sub-contracting arrangement with a local manufacturing unit and piggy-back on its under-utilised distribution network, which it had created to market KS. The domination of imported condoms in the Indian market has prompted the company to introduce premier import-substitute brands like Hawaiian Holiday, Waikiki Wonder, Swiss Kiss, Latin Lover, French Feeling and Pussy Cat. In order to meet global quality standards, the company is actively seeking a strategic alliance with a world major. In the year 1996-97, the company has entered into a joint venture with a world major in condoms, Ansell International, a division of Pacific Dunlop Ltd of Australia. The joint venture agreement envisages the formation of a separate company, viz. J.K Condoms Pvt. Ltd. and J K Chemicals Ltd and Pacific Dunlop Ltd will each hold 50% of the equity capital of the new company. During the year 1997-98, pursuant to the scheme of arrangement under sec 391 and sec 394 of the companies act 1956, the assets and liabilities of the condom division have been transferred to J K Ansell Ltd. The company has become an investment company and has also been registered as a non-banking financial company with Reserve Bank of India and the company has earned substantial income.
