One of the largest privately-owned civil engineering companies, KND Engineering Technologies offers specialised consultancy services in geo-technical engineering including land and offshore geo-technical investigations, engineering surveys and data collection analysis. To finance the company's expansion and diversification programmes, the company went public in Nov.'93, aggregating Rs 999.90 lac. KNDETL has entered into a technical collaboration with Harley System, Australia, for the design, manufacture and assembly of Harley space frames, enabling it to produce a wide range of two-way spanning structure from flat to curved roofing. The company's clientele includes Steel Authority of India, Tata Iron and Steel Co, Larsen and Toubro, Grasim, Bharat Heavy Engineering, Indian Railway Construction Company, and various other government and private agencies of India, Nepal and Bhutan. The company has been commissioning and implementing value-added Harley's space frame systems with an exclusive licence for Nepal, Srilanka, Bangladesh and India. The Calcutta-based KNDETL has diversified and expanded its activities into construction of roads and bridges, including turnkey constructions. During 1996-97, the company entered into a joint venture with Fugro N.V., Netherlands after the approval from the Ministry of Finance. The company has executed projects for IOP in Haldia Petrochemicals and for Guwahati Refinery and LSTK-2 project at IOCL Digboi Refinery. The Company made investments in Furgo-KND Geotech Ltd as 49% JV partner to carry out Geotechnical Investigations which did not yield expected results and net worth is eroded and the joint venture is terminated with mutual consent in July 2003.
