Incorporated in Nov.'90, as Kothari Soya, the company was renamed as Kothari Global (KGL) in Sep.'94. It was promoted by Nirmal Kumar Kothari and Bimal Singh Kothari belonging to the Mahalchand Motilal Kothari group. The company is managed by chairman and managing director Nirmal Kumar Kothari. Some of the other group companies are Kothari Polymers, Craft Creations of India, Kothari and Company, etc.
In Apr.'95, the company came out with a rights issue (1:2) at a premium of Rs 40 aggregating Rs 15.72 cr to part-finance the company's expansion and diversification into floriculture totalling Rs 38.15 cr. The company extracts oil from soyabean/rapeseed and is also engaged in international trading activities.
The company currently exports to Bangladesh but with the grant of the Trading House status by the government of India, it plans to boost its exports. The company plans to diversify into the agro-based export-oriented products by setting up a floriculture and horticulture project. In May '95, the company had to withdraw its public issue (premium : Rs 40) aggregating Rs 30.57 cr due to insufficient subscription.
The company continues its area of focus to modernise proceses to improve productivity and product quality, in order to achieve international level of plant performance.
