Formerly known as Mazda Leasing, Mazda Industries & Leasing (MILL) was promoted by a group of professionals and was incorporated in Nov.'83. Its main objectives are to carry on the business of leasing and hire-purchase, finance of plant and machinery, equipment and vehicles, immovable properties, and other merchant-banking activities. In 1987, MILL diversified into activities like setting up an engineering division to manufacture hydraulic systems with electrical and electronic modular analog and digital controls. It has also entered in the business of real estate. From May '92, the company's operations suffered a setback as a consequence of actions initiated by several investigating agencies, because Dena Bank had filed a suit with the Bombay High Court against MILL for the recovery of Rs 1.06 cr. The company could re-start its operations only towards the end of 1992. MILL is launching a satellite township project at Gorbunder area. In addition, it has already started negotiating with Contac, Singapore, to take up the role of construction management and to take care of quality control and schedule monitoring.
