Morinda Overseas Industries (MOIL) was incorporated as Morinda Solvents Pvt Ltd in Aug.'79 and was converted into a public limited company under the name Morinda Agro Industries, in Feb.'94. In 1995, the company acquired its present name. It was promoted by Inderjit Singh and M P Singh. The company since inception, has been engaged in solvent extraction with an installed capacity of 100 tpd, at Ajitwal (Faridkot district), Punjab. In Mar.'94, it integrated its operations by installing an oil seed crushing unit of 75 tpd. It also commissioned a 10-tpd oil upgradation unit. In 1995-96, MOIL undertook an expansion-cum-diversification project of setting up a 150-tpd paddy processing unit; a 30-tpd vegetable oil refinery and a unit for manufacturing compound cattle feed, at Malwal (Ferozepur district), Punjab. The company came out with a public issue in Mar.'96 to part-finance its project.
