Incorporated in Jan.'73 as Nutan Papers Pvt Ltd, the company was taken over in 1994 by the NEPC group and renamed NEPC Paper & Board (NPBL). It manufactures kraft paper and duplex boards. Promoted by Ravi Prakash Khemka, NPBL's paper mill in Uttar Pradesh manufactures different types of paper with an annual installed capacity of 10,000 tpa. The other group companies are NEPC Micon, NEPC Agro Foods, NEPC Tea Garden and NEPC Textiles. In Apr.'95, the company came out with an issue at a premium of Rs 40, aggregating Rs 39.63 cr, to expand its kraft paper capacity to 52,000 tpa and to create a fresh duplex board capacity of 20,100 tpa. The issue was also to augment its working capital and to set up a 4-MW power co-generation facility. In order to carry on the wind power generation and allied services,the directors of the company have decided to change the name of the company as NATIONAL WIND POWER CORPORATION LIMITED. Since the Paper and Board business has become economically unviable, the company has decided to venturing into the area of Wind Energy.
