Incorporated as a private limited company in Jul.'88, Raam Tyres (formerly Ramkish Tyres) was promoted by S Ramachandra and S S R Kishen, in association with the Andhra Pradesh Industrial Development Corporation. The company set up a plant at R G Peta (Vizianagaram district), Andhra Pradesh. It came out with a public issue in May '92, to finance the project. The company manufactures tyres and tubes for various types of vehicles which include light commercial vehicles, animal drawn vehicles, jeeps, tractors, two-wheelers, three-wheelers, etc. The company's attempts to penetrate the market with its own brands were found to be difficult because of the market command by the leaders in the field. So it changed its plans for a better utilisation of its capacity to make brand products for Vikrant Tyres, Modi Rubber and J K Industries. It also entered into a job work agreement with MRF for rubber compound mixing. However, it later cancelled the agreement with Vikrant Tyres. Raam Tyre's readymade material is now being lifted by MRF and JK Tyres.
