The Surguja Lok Sabha Constituency in the state of Chhattisgarh is currently held by Renuka Singh Saruta of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). In the 2019 Lok Sabha Elections, Saruta beat Khel Sai Singh of the Indian National Congress (INC) by receiving 51.82% of the votes cast in this constituency.
Surguja is one of the constituencies in 11-seat Chhattisgarh. In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Surguja went to the polls on April 23, 2019, in Phase 3. It saw 77.29% of its registered electors turning out to vote, against 77.96% in the previous national elections held in 2014. Renuka Singh Saruta defeated his nearest rival, Khel Sai Singh, by a margin of 157873 votes. While Saruta received 51.82 votes, runner-up Khel Sai Singh polled 39.5 votes.
At the time of the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, Surguja had 1,569,989 registered electors – 845,707 of them male and 724,282 female. The constituency had seen a 50.31% voter turnout. In 2014, the male voter turnout here was 53.63%, while 46.44% female voters turned out for voting. A total of 15 candidates had contested in this constituency. The participation of women candidates was 3.
