The final seat-sharing formula of the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance would be announced by Friday morning, Maharashtra Congress chief Nana Patole said on Thursday. The party has already asked some of its candidates who are certain to get tickets for the November 20 state assembly elections to file their nomination papers, Patole said. Grenade goes off in J&K's Baramulla court evidence room, cop injured

A policeman was injured in an explosion in the evidence room of a court in Jammu and Kashmir's Baramulla district, an officials said. "A grenade (collected as evidence in a case) exploded inside the 'malkhana (evidence room)' of a court in Baramulla town on Thursday," he added.

Bengaluru building collapse: Karnataka CM announces Rs 5 lakh ex-gratia to next of kin of deceased

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Thursday announced an ex-gratia of Rs five lakh each to the next of kin of each deceased in a building collapse here, and said the government will bear the full medical expenses of those injured. The incident, which claimed eight lives, was not due to the impact of rain, but owing to shoddy construction work, he said.

Will hand over next tranche of land for new Bombay HC by Dec: Maharashtra govt

The Maharashtra government informed the top court that  it will hand over the next tranche of land by December for construction of the Bombay High Court's new building complex in Mumbai's Bandra region.  The state government also informed a special bench comprising Chief Justice D Y Chandrachud and Justices B R Gavai and JB Pardiwala that so far it has not received the possession of the Air India building in south Mumbai.

BJP sets up stage at Chhat ghat to remind AAP of promise to clean Yamuna

The BJP today set up a stage at the Yamuna's Chhath Ghat here with two chairs for Delhi Chief Minister Atishi and her predecessor Arvind Kejriwal to remind them of the AAP's promise to clean the river. Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva took a dip in the Yamuna and "sought forgiveness" for the "corruption" of the Delhi government, which he alleged looted funds meant for cleaning the river, a party statement said.
