Kolkata rape-murder case updates: CBI continues to quiz ex-principal

The CBI on Friday summoned former principal of Kar Medical College Sandip Ghosh for the 14th consecutive day for questioning in connection with its probe into the alleged rape and murder of a postgraduate trainee doctor in the early hours of August 9. Ghosh, officials said, has already been quizzed by the agency for over 140 hours.

Congress to hold 'Raj Bhavan Chalo' march on Aug 31

The ruling Congress in Karnataka has given a call for 'Raj Bhavan Chalo' on August 31 to apprise Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot about him sanctioning an 'illegal order' to prosecute Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in the alleged Mysuru Urban Development Authority site allotment 'scam'. The party will also stage agitation at the district level, Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara told reporters here on Friday. "Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar, who is also the party state president have decided to organse the 'Raj Bhavan Chalo' programme," he said.

Speaking at the release of Ambassdor Rajiv Sikri's new book, "Strategic Conundrums: Reshaping India's Foreign Policy", the External Affairs minister said that the era of uninterrupted dialogue with Pakistan is 'over'. "I think the era of uninterrupted dialogue with Pakistan is over. Actions have consequences. And insofar as Jammu and Kashmir is concerned, I think Article 370 is done. So the, the issue today is what kind of relationship can we possibly contemplate with Pakistan? Rajiv [Sikri] suggests [in his book] that perhaps India is content to continue at the current level of relationship. Maybe yes, maybe no... We are not passive. And whether events take a positive or a negative direction, either way, we will react to it," S Jaishankar said.
