Stock Market LIVE Updates:  Indian equity markets staged a partial rebound on bargain buying after the previous session's sharp Middle East-driven sell-off. However, investor sentiment remained cautious as the United States and Iran exchanged strikes for a second consecutive day, casting doubt over the prospects for diplomatic talks and keeping risk appetite subdued.

 

Sectoral performance was broadly positive, with most indices closing in the green. Realty emerged as the top-performing sector, surging more than 3.3%, while Media and Capital Markets gained nearly 2 per cent each, supported by strength in banking and financial stocks. In contrast, Auto and IT stocks remained under pressure, with IT underperforming primarily due to weakness in TCS ahead of its first-quarter earnings, as investors awaited greater clarity on the company's AI strategy and demand outlook.

 

On the geopolitical front, the United States and Iran exchanged military strikes for the second consecutive day. The US launched fresh attacks aimed at safeguarding commercial shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, while Iran responded with missile and drone strikes targeting US military installations in Bahrain and Kuwait. The renewed escalation followed U.S. President Donald Trump's declaration that the interim peace agreement with Iran was "over," citing Tehran's earlier attack on three commercial vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz.

Stock Market LIVE Updates: " Following a gap-up opening, the benchmark Nifty index traded sideways in a narrow range for most of the session. The index is trading below its 100- and 200-day EMAs, and the intraday up move faced stiff resistance around the 100-day EMA, reflecting weakness. The chart structure for the Nifty index remains negative as long as it stays below the 24200–24300 spot zone on a closing basis. On the downside, 23800 will act as strong support. A decisive break below 23800 spot might drag the index towards 23600-23400 spot levels in the short term. Going ahead, we suggest that traders adopt a stock-specific approach for the time being."
