Indians who rule global tech companies

    Forty-three-year-old Sundar Pichai, the new CEO of Google, is the latest entrant into the list of chief executives of Indian origin, who are leading global technology companies. Pichai, who joined Google in 2004, led product management and innovation for Google's client software products, such as Google Chrome and Chrome OS, and oversaw the development of Gmail and Google Maps. He also gave a demonstration of Chrome OS and the Chromebook was released for trial and testing in 2011 and released in public in 2012. In March 2013, Pichai added Android to the Google products he oversees.

    Satya Nadella, 47, who has been with Microsoft for over 22 years, was appointed CEO of the company in February 2014. Nadella succeeded Steve Ballmer, having been elevated from Executive Vice President of Microsoft's Cloud and Enterprise group, a position in which he was in charge of building and running the company's Computing Platforms, Developer Tools and Cloud Computing Services.

    Rajeev Suri, who joined Nokia in 1995, took over as head of the company on May 1, 2014, after it sold its ailing mobile phone unit to Microsoft. He has a Bachelor's degree in Engineering from Manipal Institute of Technology and worked for MNCs in India and Nigeria before joining Nokia.

    Sanjay Mehrotra, who co-founded SanDisk in, assumed charge as the company’s President and Chief Executive Officer in January 2011. Prior to this appointment, he served as president and chief operating officer since June 2006. Mehrotra has more than 30 years of experience in the non-volatile semiconductor memory industry, including engineering and management positions at SanDisk, Integrated Device Technology, Inc., SEEQ Technology, Inc., Intel Corporation and Atmel Corporation.

    Shantanu Narayen, 52, who joined Adobe Systems in January 1998 as Vice President and General Manager, took over as President and COO of the company in 2005. In 2007 was elevated to Chief Executive Officer and became a directors on the company's board. Narayen, who started his career at Apple, also serves on the board of Dell Inc. and the advisory board of the Haas School of Business, University of California at Berkeley.
