Sarita Devi controversially settled for a bronze medal after losing her bout against South Korea's Jina Park despite a dominating performance which left the home favourite with a bloodied nose. Sarita, making a comeback after giving birth to a baby boy almost like her better-known Manipuri compatriot Mary Kom, and her husband C Thoiba Singh were left infuriated by the outcome. Thoiba rushed to the judges' bench shouting that they have killed boxing.

The Manipuri mother-of-three, who had won a bronze when women boxers made their debut at the 2010 Asiad and who has been christened 'Magnificent Mary' by the International Boxing Association for her unprecedented feats, began to dominate in the third round and dictated the pace of the proceedings.
