"We wish to work together. Facebook is there in India in nine languages and I have requested them to add more languages to it," Prasad told media persons after meeting Facebook Chief Operating Officer (COO) Sheryl Sandberg, who is currently visiting India.

Sandberg, who is on a five-day visit, met Modi along with Facebook's Global Public Policy Vice President Marne Levine and India Head of Public Policy Ankhi Das.

Communication and Information technology (IT) Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad Thursday said social networking website Facebook has an enormous potential to grow in India in areas like education, healthcare and other sectors.

She spoke on how she started her career from India as part of a World Bank project on leprosy in 1991, working in New Delhi and Madhya Pradesh.
“There were 3-4 million leprosy cases when I was last here, now there are less than 100,000. There was no Facebook that time. I used to fax letters to family and office. And now, when I look at leprosy, it’s no longer a threat here. The way I see it, India has grown so much in the past two decades,” she said, adding Facebook wanted to be a part of the growth story.
