The derailment of the Dibrugarh Express in the Maoist affected area of Chhapra in Bihar, on the day of a bandh called by them, has raised suspicion over the cause of accident.
Railway Minister Sadanand Gowda, before heading to the accident spot, had said that the mishap seemed to be a case of Maoist sabotage.
"Prima facie it is learnt that it is due to sabotage but as far as Rajdhani is concerned practically we don't have much news of accident but of course there was a bandh call given by Maoists so the cause is yet to be known," said Gowda.

Seven coaches-B-5 to B-10 and the power car of the Delhi-Dibrugarh Rajdhani derailed at the Golden Ganj station, about 75 km from Patna, while five coaches, B-1, B-2, B-3, B-4 and the pantry car overturned at around 2:11 AM.
Chief Public Relations Officer of East Central Railway (ECR) Arvind Kumar Rajak said some of the coaches were hurled as far as 700 feet away from the track.

Recounting the fear and shock following the derailment of the Rajdhani Express, passengers of the the New Delhi-Dibrugarh train today said it was a "night to forget".
Rita Nath of Guwahati, who suffered injuries on her head and chest in the derailment, said, "I was sleeping on my berth when I suddenly felt the train tilting to one side. It tumbled over before I could get up. I lost consciousness after that.

"Although I am not an expert of Maoists activities, but I can say that based on visible evidence on the spot that there is something unusual about this," Rudy, the MP from Saran, said.

Terming the incident as the first in that region, the former railway minister accused the "Central government of still being busy in celebrating their win."
