In a country where the masses have been mostly gripped by the cricket frenzy, the ministry adopted a unique way to promote football. 

During an event organised near the Gandhi statue, Lok Sabha speaker Sumitra Mahajan distributed footballs to MPs from the both Houses of Parliament.

Members of Parliament from all political parties gathered near the Gandhi statue and the speaker handed them footballs.

It will be the first time that India will be hosting FIFA U-17 Football World Cup.
