Acid attack survivors run a cafe in Agra

Agra, Sep 09 (ANI): Women who fought back for life through chemical burns defined themselves as fighters as they have started to lead a normal life by running a 'Sheroes Hangout Cafe' in Agra city of Uttar Pradesh. The cafe is situated on the opposite road of Taj Mahal.

The cafe which has given these women the confidence of showing their faces in public after being disfigured has appointed them on all sorts of positions in the cafe; from cook, waiter, cleaner to managing accounts and preparing dresses. The graffiti and paintings exhibit their skills in spite of all odds in life.

The cafe has a reading section and alongside a boutique. The clothes are designed by an acid attack survivor, Rupa who became a victim of her step-mother's wrath.

The cafe is an initiative of the Non Governmental Organisation (NGO) Chaanv Foundation that has collaborated with the acid attack victims and supporters of the Stop Acid Attack network. Rupa says that the cafe has given the five girls working here a d
