AMU scholar suspended for joining Hizbul Mujahideen

Aligarh (Uttar Pradesh), Jan 08 (ANI): A scholar from Aligarh Muslim University has been suspended after reports of his joining banned terrorist organisation Hizbul Mujahideen. According to police, scholar from Kupwara Mannan Wani joined the banned organisation on January 5.

The police searched his room and sealed his possessions, which are under examination. His room was video graphed by the police.

According to the campus authorities, he was present in the campus till January 2 and registered his attendance but thereafter he went missing. University's proctor Mohsin Khan informed that the University has taken action against him by suspending him until further enquiry.

Students' Union President Mashkur Ahmed Usmani said that the college has zero tolerance toward such activities. The information came to light when Wani's parents filed his missing report in his hometown Kupwara.

The college has constituted an enquiry committee in the case.
