AP assembly passes resolution to provide 33.33% reservation for women in legislative houses

Amaravati (Andhra Pradesh), Dec 01 (ANI): Andhra Pradesh assembly has passed a resolution to provide 33.33% reservation for women in legislative houses. The assembly took up the issue of women empowerment for discussion.

Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu took part in the discussion held in this connection. He said TDP founder and former CM NTR had the credit of providing right to property to women and it is TDP govt that introduced reservations for women in local bodies.

Naidu stated that the government has started DWCRA groups for women empowerment and now there are more than 91 lakh women in those groups. TDP government had initiated giving 33% reservation for women in educational institutes and jobs ranging from conductors to constables and has issued 45 lakh gas connections for welfare of women.
