Assam under persistent inundation affecting 15 districts

Morigaon, Aug 24 (ANI): The flood situation turned grim in Assam with heavy rains pounding several districts. Government reports confirmed that 15 districts including Goalpada, Morigaon, Dhubadi, Kaamroop, Golghata and Nagaam have been affected.

In these districts the water level has crossed the danger mark followed by the rescue work and the locals are sent to safer zones in order to tackle the persistent inundation. The districts of Dhemaji, Lakhimpur, Kokrajhar, Bongaigaon, Chirang, Barpeta, Jorhat, Baska, Sonitpur and Dibrugarh were earlier reported to be among the worst affected areas.The state has been receiving heavy rainfall for the last few days, submerging houses and crops.

Floods have disrupted normal life as residents are forced to wade through water to reach their destination.
