Badrinath to change 3.5 kg gold parasol

Ludhiana (Punjab)/ Badrinath (Uttarakhand), Apr 08 (ANI): A lot of Hindu seers gathered in Punjab's Ludhiana to unveil the 3.5 kilograms of golden parasol for god Vishnu at popular Himalayan shrine, 'Badrinath' in Uttarakhand. A local businessman Gyaneshwar had this parasol constructed with 3.5 kilograms of gold and it is also decked up with diamonds and various other kinds of pearls and precious stones, according to local media reports.

The parasol will now be taken to Badrinath from Ludhiana and will be replacing the old parasol on April 18. Badrinath temple remains closed to devotees and other pilgrims during the winter season because of persisting and often heavy snowfall in this area.

Located in the foothills of the mighty Himalayan Mountains, the shrine is open only for six months every year from the beginning of May till the beginning of November, due to extreme weather conditions in the Himalayan region.
