Bhima-Koregaon violence: Maharashtra cripples as protests spread

Maharashtra, Jan 03 (ANI): Tension in Maharashtra is only heightening as Dalit outfits continued their massive protest against the violence at Bhima-Koregaon on Wednesday. Angry Dalit protestors hit the street in several districts of the state, hampering daily life.

They stopped buses, auto-rickshaws and also vandalised some of the vehicles. Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) buses and a car were vandalised by protesters in Powai.

'Rasta Roko' protest was being held in Andheri on the Western Express Highway. Services of AC local have been suspended for the day in view of large-scale protests.

Other suburban services are being run amid intermittent protests at Elphinstone Rd, Goregaon, Dadar, Malad. Heavy police have been deployment in Aurangabad amid stone pelting.

Protesters also vandalised several vehicles in the area.
