Bhogdoi Festival held to showcase northeastern culture

Jorhat, Assam, Jan 02 (ANI): River Bhogdoi is a tributary of the Brahmaputra and it flows through the city of Jorhat after its origin in the Naga Hills. With an aim to bring forth the essence of river Bhogdoi, to provide a platform to the local artisans to showcase their work and preserve the culture of the north-eastern region, Assam in particular, the 2nd Bhogdoi Festival was held in Jorhat.

A large number of local artisans showcased a range of handloom and handicraft items at the festival. More than 60 stalls which are mostly run by the Self Help Groups (SHG), small scale industries (SSI) and others were seen at the festival showcasing various products.

The stall owners did brisk business as good number of customers turned out in the festival. Besides these, food items were also available and traditional spices were on sale.

However, this festival acts as a platform for local craftsmen, weavers, potters, artists, to display their products and handicrafts for appreciation and sales.
