Bird flu scare prompts chicken sale

Daman (Daman and Diu), Jan 09 (ANI): Authorities banned sale and purchase of chicken in Daman after two ducks tested positive of highly pathogenic H5N1 virus. The government of federally-administered Daman and Diu Union Territory had ordered culling of chicken and other poultry to prevent spread of virus to human beings.

Earlier, around 700 chickens were culled at an animal care centre on the outskirts of Ahmadabad after detection of the virus. Over 2,500 poultry were also culled in Odisha in December after four dead crows and three dead poultry tested positive for the virus.
