Blackbuck Poaching Case: Salman Khan convicted, other actors acquitted

Jodhpur (Rajasthan), Apr 05 (ANI): In a major drawback for Bollywood actor Salman Khan's family and Bollywood industry, the Jodhpur Trial Court convicted actor Salman Khan, while acquitting other accused in the 1998 Blackbuck Poaching Case on Thursday. The Jodhpur trial court pronounced the judgment, while holding off on awarding the quantum of punishment for the Bollywood actor right away.

The sentencing is expected to announce shortly. Co-accused and Bollywood actors Saif Ali Khan, Sonali Bendre, Neelam and Tabu were present in court during pronouncement of the verdict.

Salman and other actors are accused of hunting down two blackbucks in Kankani village near Jodhpur. The actors were in the city for the shooting of the film 'Hum Saath - Saath Hain'.

The Bollywood actor is facing charges under Section 51 of the Wildlife (Protection) Act and the other actors have been charged under Section 51 read with Section 149 (unlawful assembly) of the Indian Penal Code. Maximum punishment under
