Chandigarh International Airport to put in more passenger-related facilities

Chandigarh, Dec 15 (ANI): The new international terminal in Mohali, inaugurated in September last year by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, comes as a boon for passengers from Punjab, Haryana and other adjoining states. Spread out in an area of 305 acres, the Chandigarh International Airport has been built using the latest green technologies, making the terminal building energy efficient.

The terminal is proposed to be named after Shaheed Bhagat Singh and is equipped with all facilities to handle international flights. It handles over a dozen domestic and two international flights to Dubai and Sharjah at present.

Airports Authority of India holds a 51 per cent share in the airport while states of Punjab and Haryana have 24.5 per cent stake each. The Indian Air Force, which controls the runway, plans to make it CAT-III complaint to allow landing of long-distance aircrafts.
