CM Naidu distributes sweets after assembly passes Kapu reservation bill

Amaravati (AP), Dec 02 (ANI): Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, N. Chandrababu Naidu, on Saturday distributed sweets to Kapu ministers as the state cabinet unanimously passed the reservation bill for the community.

The assembly approved to include Kapus in backward castes, giving them special sub category 'F' under which five percent reservation will be provided to them. In wake of this development, Kapu ministers expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister.

The state cabinet has decided to include Kapu, Balija, Ontari and Telaga communities in Backward Class category and provide them five percent reservation in education, employment and welfare schemes. However, political reservation will not be provided.

The development comes after a four-member BC Commission, headed by Justice KL Manjunatha, submitted a report to CM Naidu. Later, the bill will be sent to the Union Home Ministry once it gets approval from the governor's office.
