Colourful carnival marks onset of spring in Goa

Calangute (Goa), Mar 13 (ANI): Roads in Goa's Calangute resembled a rainbow as local residents dressed in vibrant costumes, danced to drum beats and sang folk songs as part of an ongoing cultural festival. The 15-day-long festival named 'Shigmotsav,' heralds the onset of spring and is a celebration of the state's culture.

Some participants dressed up as Indian deities while others performed Goa's folk dances. Awestruck onlookers and police personnel lined the roads.

It seemed like a really fun event and a lot of colours, said a tourist. 'Shigmotsav' began on March 03 and will conclude on March 17.
