CPI leader Ardhendu Bhushan Bardhan passes away

New Delhi/Kolkata, West Bengal/Nagpur, Maharashtra/Ludhiana, Jan 03 (ANI): Veteran leader of Communist Party of India (CPI) Ardhendu Bhushan Bardhan, passed away at the age of 92 after prolonged illness. The senior leader breathed his last at a private hospital in New Delhi, where he was admitted after suffering a paralytic stroke on December 7.

A leader of CPI, D. Raja, visited the hospital after hearing the news of Bardhan's demise.

He suffered. He had stroke on December 7.

He was admitted. He was in ICU.

According to his character he fought against the illness. He struggled.

Doctors did their best to save him. Finally today he succumbed to the illness.

Members and party workers of CPI said Bardhan's death was a big loss to the party. Bardhan was a prominent figure of the trade union movement from western Maharashtra state.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee took to Twitter to offer her condolences. Bardhan was born on September 24, 1924.

Bardhan is survived by his son Asho
